[Patreon Transfer] In Talks with Another Engine Coder!
So the original engine coder I was talking to backed on porting the engine to Dreamcast, to focus on maybe porting the game to Unity.
However, I am currently in talks with another engine coder about making a completely custom engine for everyone to use. He said he's probably going to do it anyways without my specifications, but I'll try to convince him to at least support GTKRadiant .map files so that the maps I have currently made can still work and he doesn't need to make a bunch of tools to get the stuff working.
I just hope he can come through for me so that I have an engine with all custom code that can be ported to other systems. He said he has coded games for the Xbox 360, so hopefully he's telling the truth.
I really don't want to switch to a different engine, but if it makes it easier to optimize for the Dreamcast and other systems, it's probably the best approach.
If talks fall through, then I'll just go back to using Makaqu and start my next game on his new engine if he finishes it. But I'm not going to put all my eggs in 1 basket, so I'll keep developing for the Quake engine mostly while he's working on the engine.
